Chrome aimed to reshape developer’s perception of the web by showing that modern web tools can deliver the same level of quality and innovation as native apps. The goal was to create a compelling narrative that highlighted Chrome’s new UI capabilities while inspiring developers to push creative boundaries.
The ask
To bring this vision to life, we created:
1 flagship brand film inviting developers to re-imagine the web, tapping into the excitement they had when they first started building websites.
3 feature videos focused on specific UI features like view transitions, scroll-triggered animations, and popovers.
Brand Story
To capture the hearts of developers, we needed to tell an emotional brand video that connected to the reason programmers fell in love with the web in the first place.
Many web developers discovered the power and possibility of the web when they were young. They transformed their passion into a profession and even left home to pursue career opportunities abroad. They never forgot their roots. This is the story we wanted to tell. A few developers we spoke to confirmed that this was their story too.

Once we told the story, we needed to showcase the benefits of new Chrome web tools by showing how they actually work. We zoomed in on projects in our main character’s portfolio, to tour three key features: Scroll Animations, View Transitions, and Popovers.
